Taught by Professor Binns, a ghost who continues teaching, History of Magic is a series of extremely boring lectures on various aspects of magical history. However, the boredom is due to Binns' teaching style, not the material itself, which tends to emphasize vicious goblin riots, goblin rebellions, and giant wars.

Taught by Professor Snape, Head of Slytherin, Potions consists of memorizing the properties of various potion ingredients, the composition of specific potions, and practice preparing them. Professor Snape also sets essays on the properties of potion ingredients as homework.

Run by Madam Pince, the Hogwarts library contains tens of thousands of books on thousands of shelves. Included in its many sections is a Restricted Section at the back, set off with a rope. A signed note from a teacher is required to peruse that section of the library.

The bathroom on the second floor is the regular haunt of a ghost named Moaning Myrtle: a girl who was killed by a Basilik that lurked beneath the school years ago.

[ ]Prefect's Bathroom
Available only to prefects and quidditch team captains, the prefect's bathroom is made completely of white marble, lit softly by a candle-filled chandelier. It contains a single sunken bathtub, the size and depth of a swimming pool, and even has a diving board, but unlike an ordinary pool the tub is lined with about a hundred taps, each with a differently coloured jewel set into the handle. Each tap automatically releases not only water, but bubble bath.

Where the Quidditch games are played. Also where the Quidditch teams go to practice.

[ ]Room of Requirement
The Room of Requirement is a magical room which can only be discovered by someone who is in need. It is called the Come and Go Room by the house-elves of Hogwarts. The Room is located on the seventh floor, opposite a tapestry showing Barnabas the Barmy trying to teach trolls to dance the ballet. To make the Room appear, a person has to walk past the section of blank wall three times concentrating hard on what is needed.

The forest on the edge of Hogwarts, populated with various magical creatures, a lot of them dangerous.

Hogsmeade
[ ]Dervish and Banges
Dervish and Banges is a shop that sells and repairs magical equipment, located near the end of the main street.

[ ]Gladrags Wizardwear
Gladrags Wizardwear is a clothier, with additional shops in London and Paris. Among other things, you can buy strange socks there.

[ ]The Hog's Head
A small inn in Hogsmeade, on a side street off the main street, much dirtier (and attracting a more, er, interesting, clientele) than the Three Broomsticks.

[ ]Hogsmeade Station
The station, where the Hogwarts Express ends its journey north from Platform Nine-And-Three-Quarters, is located near the lake. A road extends from the train station around the lake to Hogwarts Castle. The station is actually quite a distance from the town itself, being on the opposite side of the Hogwarts grounds.

[ ]Honeydukes Sweetshop
Owned by Ambrosius Flume and his wife, who live over the shop; an entrance to one of the secret tunnels from Hogwarts is in the cellar under a trap door. Honeydukes not only sells a wide variety of sweets, they also make their own fudge and enormous blocks of chocolate.

[ ]Madame Puddifoot's
A small, cramped tea shop with decor on the tacky side of frilly, filled with small circular tables, located on a side street off the main street; the only Hogwarts students who seem to patronize the place are trysting couples. The owner uses a revoltingly sappy decor for Valentine's Day.

[ ]The Shrieking Shack
Reputed to be the most haunted house in Britain, the Shrieking Shack gets its name from the terrifying screams and noises heard coming from it some twenty years ago. The Shack has been silent for years, but the reputation lives on. The windows are completely boarded up. Outside the house is a dank, overgrown garden. The entrances are all sealed; even Fred and George couldn't figure out how to get in.

Owned by Madam Rosmerta, The Three Broomsticks is a great spot to drink butterbeer, although they also serve gillywater, mulled mead, red currant rum, and even cherry syrup and soda with ice and an umbrella. There are tables, booths, and a mirror over the bar.

[ ]Zonko's Joke Shop
Zonko's is a favourite place for Hogwarts students to shop. They carry jokes and tricks to fulfill even Fred's and George's wildest dreams, including Dungbombs, Hiccup Sweets, Frog Spawn Soap, and Nose-Biting Teacups.

Other Places
[ ]Azkaban
Azkaban is a terrible place. The prisoners there are guarded by Dementors. The prisoners are forced to relive the darkest, most horrible memories of their lives. Some go mad, others simply despair and die. I'm not sure why anyone would want to visit here.

Tapping just the right brick in the wall behind the Leaky Cauldron pub in London will reveal an archway which is a portal into Diagon Alley, a long cobbled street where is to be found a strange and exciting assortment of shops and restaurants, some of which have tables outside with brightly colored umbrellas.

Founded in late 1500s or early 1600s by Mungo Bonham, St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries is located in London. The Healers at St. Mungo's are trained and equipped to treat a wide variety of magic-related illnesses and injuries. The staff wear lime green robes. The St. Mungo's emblem is a wand and a bone, crossed.
